Botswana Telecommunications Corporation

WesternConnect managed a major 3 year contract with Botswana Telecommunications Corporation to restructure and transform the organisation as well as redesign its service provision. This contract involved experienced WesternConnect staff managing the following activities: - Telecoms technology & Infrastructure Development

  • Core Network and Service provision Development of network to support broadband and IP based services
  • LAN, Wireless, Satellite, Voice and Data network review and management
  • Overall telecoms project management and monitoring of infrastructure rollout
  • Telecommunications policy and standards definition
  • Tender development and management
  • Development of Marketing activities for existing and new services
  • Overall management of the organisation transformation
  • INTERREG IIIA

    WesternConnect has been contracted by the Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment (Northern Ireland) and the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources (Republic of Ireland) to manage a multi million €uro project under the INTERREG IIIA programme. WesternConnect is managing the award of funding to telecommunications infrastructure projects in the economically disadvantaged region around the north/south border.

    Our consultants are currently managing the tendering process under the INTERREG initiative. This project has involved defining the application process, generating interest through public relations, identifying evaluation criteria for projects being proposed, and following public procurement rules to measure each project against pre-defined criteria.

    The project is currently in the evaluation phase during which we are identifying the most strategically important projects for the border region and presenting these projects for approval by the government departments, the INTERREG paying authority and the programme steering committee. WesternConnect will be engaged throughout the project life cycle, a period of eighteen months, with responsibility for monitoring project expenditure and conducting final project evaluations.

    WesternConnect have carried out a major project management engagement in support of Opt2Vote, a Northern Ireland Based e-voting company.

    WesternConnect provided this start-up enterprise with project management experience and support for 3 pilot local elections in the UK. The WesternConnect team brought their knowledge of PRINCE2 methodologies, together with their experience of software implementation within aggressive timescales to bring this project to a highly successful conclusion.
