WesternConnect have carried out a major project management engagement in support of Opt2Vote, a Northern Ireland Based e-voting company.
WesternConnect provided this start-up enterprise with project management experience and support for 3 pilot local elections in the UK. The WesternConnect team brought their knowledge of PRINCE2 methodologies, together with their experience of software implementation within aggressive timescales to bring this project to a highly successful conclusion.
Northern Ireland Broadband Service Contract
WesternConnect is currently working with the Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment in the delivery of a multi million €uro monitoring and evaluation contract. As part of this contract WesternConnect has devised and implemented a series of monitoring and evaluation tools to monitor the progress of BT in the rollout of broadband technologies throughout Northern Ireland. The processes and techniques devised by WesternConnect has allowed for a confidential monitoring and evaluation service to be offered to UK government and allowed for the transparent rollout of broadband throughout Northern Ireland.
This contract has called upon the extensive expertise of the WesternConnect team in terms of preparing SLAs, performance and project contracts, monitoring, negotiating and regulatory affairs with network operators.

South Kesteven
WesternConnect were commissioned to carry out a detailed information gathering and requirements analysis exercise and to produce a comprehensive ICT strategy and action plan. Particular emphasis was paid to the statutory requirements of the e-Government agenda and targets laid down by Central Government. The key services undertaken within the IT and Corporate Services division of the Council included:

St. Albans City and District Council
WesternConnect has been engaged to help St Albans City and District Council (SADC) move to the practical implementation stage of their ambitious e-Government programme. Our team has worked with all stakeholders, including St Albans existing sub-contractors and external software providers, to audit and conduct a “healthcheck” of all aspects of the Council’s existing ICT infrastructure (including security aspects and network resilience) to define the council’s future ICT strategy.
WesternConnect were responsible for the production of the ICT Department Service Plan defining the IT projects with timescales and key milestones required to meet the Council’s e-Government targets.
As part of this project, WesternConnect has worked with St Alban’s IT Department to carry out a complete review of the Council’s IT department roles and responsibilities; mapping out what the department needs to provide in order to supply service departments and general users with the tools they need to work more effectively and efficiently, matching this to their existing resources by means of a skills matrix and identifying any gaps.
WesternConnect provided technical project management for the implementation of the Customer Service Centre which went live in mid March. Our team worked with CRM Company Q-Matic (Q-Knowledge) to enable 11 front line staff to provide a dedicated access point for members, citizens and staff to council services.
